| Summary | This course will look at developments in American political fiction since 1945, and how post-ww2 American novelists have approached key 'political' issues: war, sex, race, money, 'politics'. We will look at definitions of 'political', and how literary form and style may themselves be viewed as elements of political culture.

Learning Outcomes 
| Enhanced critical thinking around a specific area of study. Ability to formulate comparative literacy/cultural arguments. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the various meanings of 'political', particularly as applied to literary fiction
 Students will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the specific cultural contexts in which post-ww2 American political fictions have been written
 Students will be able to identify key moments in American political history and American political writing
