| Summary | This two week 0-credit course will consist of two seminars of two hours each on 'philosophical skills', especially skills concerning how to construct philosophy papers in particular. |  
| Course description | 'Phil Skills' is aimed at giving incoming on campus MSc students a grounding in the skills needed for philosophical reading and essay construction.  It will consist of two seminars of two hours.  It is mandatory for those students without a background in philosophy.  Students will receive feedback relevant to the themes of the course on a 'informative essay' written for one of their further individual MSc courses. |

| On completion of this course, the student will be able to: 
        identify and reconstruct the argument of a philosophy paperconstruct a well-formed introduction to a philosophy paperbetter think through how to formulate an appropriate thesis for a philosophy paperwork within the word counts of an assignment effectivelyuse appropriate language for academic philosophical writing |
