Summary | This course introduces the challenges of setting up a commercially-oriented web site, the lessons learnt being applicable to any aspect of digital design practice as a commercial venture. The course is directed particularly to the technical aspects of design for the web. It comprises the fundamentals of programming with PHP, database design with MySQL, and web solutions using Javascript, jQuery and external APIs. Practical activity will centre around what would be required for the development of the system designed, with some emphasis on its usability for the target audience. |
Course description |
The course has a programme of two-hour weekly lectures. In addition, the course offers a supporting schedule of two-hours weekly course clinics, where students can address issues in relation to their course assignments. The students are required to submit two assessments one at an interim stage and one at the conclusion of the course.
