This course is compulsory for all students expecting to take the MSc Dissertation course.
Course description Topics include: Planning research and understanding experimental design, use of Minitab, data summary and distribution and both basic level parametric and non-parametric statistical methods. At the end of this course, students will be able to apply basic scientific and statistical planning and methods to actual research projects. Attention will also be given to producing a research proposal.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. To provide a foundation for the completion of the IAWEL dissertation in the following year
  2. Explain basic statistical concepts
  3. Design, plan, and know how to begin to analyse a project.
  4. Write a dissertation proposal.
