|Summary||This course provides an advanced introduction to research issues specific to the study of film.
The course begins with an explanation of research proposals and structures and particularly engages with preparing students for the MSc in Film Studies Dissertation. Students will prepare presentations on their proposed areas of research and will also produce a formal written proposal for their dissertation.

||This course is assessed on a pass/fail basis.
Students are required to formulate and present a summary of research issues on an area of Film Studies relevant to their research.
They will be asked to formulate a research proposal.
||Feedback will be given on the ideas presented in the presentations and their proposal will be given written comments.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify appropriate methods for dealing with different modes of research in Film Studies
- Provide a research overview for a project in Film Studies
- Prepare a coherent proposal for an advanced research project in Film Studies
