|Summary||This course further defines and reinforces developing interior design skills relating to adaptation and reuse of existing buildings.
Students will be given an existing building to investigate in relation to its location in the immediate built environment and within the wider city context. They will be expected to research its historic background, as well as analyse, and draw it to scale.
They will be provided with a Brief requiring a change of use of the building which challenges the existing layout and fabric (for example transformation of an open plan space like a gallery into cellular accommodation such as a hotel).
Students will prepare outline proposals in sketch or other communicative form for discussion and reflection. During an iterative process they will prepare final project proposals including plans and sections of proposals, simple materials specification, more detailed information for a particular element of the proposals in drawing and/or model form to scale.

||100% weighting consisting of: A digital portfolio and a research blog containing sketches, plans and sections of existing and proposed building layout, basic material specification, detail drawings and exploratory 3D models, all presented in a coherent graphical manner.
All three Learning Outcomes are equally weighted in the assessment of components
||Formative feedback and Assessment:
Group tutorials will include verbal and/or written and drawn feedback from peers and staff on a weekly basis.
Mid-semester, students will submit a self-evaluation form and formative submission document upload, and be given verbal formative feedback on their formative submission and work to date.
Summative Feedback and Assessment:
At the end of the course students will submit a final edited portfolio of work and a self-evaluation form, and be given written feedback and grades on their work submitted.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a response to the project brief through the exploration of a wide range of relevant interior design perspectives theories and approaches.
- Show how research concepts have been explored in relation to final proposals using rigorous, creative and imaginative investigation.
- Present using a variety of appropriate techniques to realise design outcomes, which are communicated in a professional, reflective and clear manner.
