|Summary||This course focuses on the challenges of designing an interior intervention into an existing building over multiple floors.
Using an existing medium-size multi-storey space, students will be asked to analyse, and redesign this space for a new function. They will be expected to establish a brief in order to respond to the potential client¿s needs.
Students will prepare scheme design proposals in sketch and exploratory model form for discussion. During this iterative process they will prepare final proposals in drawing form, to scale, for submission.

||Other requirements|| If this course is Core to your programme, you will automatically be enrolled. For all other students, it is recommended students have completed either Interior Design 1a or 1b prior to starting this course. Students should be aware this course builds on earlier skills, and is not an entrance level course. Previous experience and knowledge of Interior Design at H.E level is required. If in doubt please contact the Course Organiser in advance of signing up for this course.

||100% weighting consisting of:
Digital portfolio containing research sketch book blog, development drawings and models and final scheme design scale drawing set with interior visuals.
All three Learning Outcomes are equally weighted in the assessment of components
||Formative feedback and Assessment:
Group tutorials will include verbal and/or written and drawn feedback from peers and staff on a weekly basis.
Mid-semester, students will submit a self-evaluation form, and be given written formative feedback on their formative submission and work to date.
Summative Feedback and Assessment:
At the end of the course students will submit a final edited portfolio of work and a self-evaluation form, and be given written feedback and grades on their work submitted.
|No Exam Information
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Investigate and demonstrate the use of an appropriate range of practical, material and theoretical research methods in relation to the building and its existing and proposed use.
- Develop and evaluate core interior architectural design theories and applications in relation to the new use of the building, and its relationship with the existing building.
- Present knowledge, skills and understanding of the design solution in a graphically coherent way.
