SummaryIn Advanced Arabic E, emphasis will be placed on increasing student confidence in their language skills to enable them to reach an advanced level. This will be achieved by regular and intensive practice of oral presentation delivery, question and answer sessions in Modern Standard Arabic, summarizing reading texts (oral and written) in Arabic, listening to TV interviews from channels such as Al-Jazeera, and summarising main points in Arabic. There will also be vocabulary exercises, dictation, essay writing and frequent translation work. Students will also be studying an Arabic novel. The language target level is upper-intermediate to advanced (C1 in the CEF).

The aim of Advanced Arabic E is to consolidate what students have already covered during the first months of the programme as well as to widen vocabulary and to improve grammatical accuracy in terms of reading, writing and speaking. The course will aim to enable students to read and translate complex texts with relative ease. Additionally students will be given the opportunity to develop further both their speaking and listening skills. The focus will be on Modern Standard Arabic. The course will also focus on the skill of summarizing, both orally and in written form.
