SummaryProject for Combined Honours Degrees involving Mathematics.
Course description This course will:
1. Allow students to gain some experience in mathematical investigations/research, building on that learned in MAT-3-MCC.
2. Enhance students' abilities to communicate mathematical ideas through written and spoken word.
3. Encourage independent thought and enhance students' critical faculties,both of their own and other peoples work.
4. Allow students to gain experience of a longer project investigation than is possible in an individual project, often exploring the connection between mathematics and some other discipline.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Confidently read mathematical papers, perform literature searches and summarize knowledge in a topic area.
  2. Carry out improved mathematical analyses and computational work, pose their own questions and plan a study, all with limited direction from an academic supervisor.
  3. Proficiently write mathematics.
  4. Confidently present mathematical work through oral presentations.
  5. Use their experience in mathematical typesetting.
