| Course description |
This course builds on the knowledge and skills attained in the previous 120 credits of the programme. Students will learn how to develop and design a clinical trial or a research question related to clinical trials. Students will be introduced to a range of research methodologies and skills necessary to explore the identified topic area. This will include consideration of ethical issues, critical appraisal of relevant literature and identification and application of relevant research methods. Students will communicate their research findings using appropriate media. Students will critically reflect on their learning journey throughout and be expected to work independently with regular support and supervision.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of ethical concepts and principles relating to issues and processes in clinical trial design and research.
- Apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding, including methodological and analytical skills to design a clinical trial or related research to deliver dissertation project.
- Critically review and appraise relevant literature to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the research area and or apply to clinical trial design
- Critically reflect and exercise autonomy of own personal professional development and contribute to change/development or new thinking within clinical trials.
