Additional Information (Assessment) Two coursework exercises (35% each) and one time-limited take-home exam in the May exam diet (30%).

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. gain a more profound awareness of, and fluency in, dealing with early to mid 19th-century harmony.
  2. gain an increasing awareness of musical textures, and a facility in writing these: in particular, string quintet and string ensemble.
  3. gain knowledge of different 19th-century song repertoires.
  4. gain fluency in writing piano accompaniments for 19th-century song repertoires, in particular the German Lied and the French mélodie (especially Faure).
