SummaryThis is closely linked to the Research Project and the students project supervisor will act as tutor for this element. The student will be expected to formulate hypotheses linked to their project subject, design a series of experiments to test these hypotheses, and write a Grant Proposal; a mock application for funding in which the student describes the research problem, its importance, the hypotheses, and the experiments you would propose to perform. Guidance will be given on this process in Semester 2.

Learning Outcomes
This course will provide insights into the design of experiments and how hypotheses are formulated. Students will be given the task of designing experiments related to their project in the form of a mock grant proposal. Guidance will be given on the suitability of technical approaches, how to achieve aims over a limited timescale
