Year 1 Academic year: 2022/23, Starting in: September

Notes:
Students will take an optional course in the second semester from a range of available relevant courses and subject to agreement with the programme director.

Progression to Year 2: achieve proficiency in practice at a level of competence commensurate with eligibility for entry to the NMC register as a first level nurse and must have attended 80% of reflective practice groups.
Progression to dissertation will be ratified at the May / June Board of Examiners in Year 2. Students should be aware that to progress to dissertation they must pass at least 120 credits with a mark of at least 50% in each of the courses which make up these credits, and attain an average of at least 50% for the 180 credits of study examined at the point of decision for programme to dissertation.
Students will start to work on the dissertation from the beginning of year 2. Informal permission to progress to dissertation will be provided at the October board at the end of year 1. At this point students should have passed at least 80 credits with a mark of at least 50% in each of the courses that make up these credits, and be on course to attain an average of at least 50% across all credits of study.

Progression to dissertation (ratified at the May / June Board of Examiners in Year 2)
In order to progress to masters dissertation students must pass at least 120 credits with a mark of at least 50% in each of the courses which make up these credits, and attain an average of at least 50% for the 180 credits of study examined at the point of decision for programme to dissertation.

Award of Masters of Nursing (ratified at October Board of Examiners in Year 2)
In order to be awarded the Masters of Nursing with Pre-Registration (Adult) students must:
a) pass at least 120 credits with a mark of at least 50% in each of the courses which make up these credits, and
b) attain an average of at least 50% for the 180 taught credits of study examined, and
c) attain an additional 60 credits, by achieving a mark of at least 50% for the dissertation, and
d) achieve proficiency in practice at a level of competence commensurate with eligibility for entry to the NMC register as a first level nurse as stated within the programme handbook.
