SummaryThis course provides students with an outward-facing live brief with criteria that facilitate their exploration of the professional context of Graphic Design. Its brief will be set and run in collaboration with a live client and will involve professional practice and its core elements such as creative parameters, audiences, budgets and time frames, amongst others.
Course description Students will be assigned a live outward-facing brief, in collaboration with a real client. The course will enable students to develop and critically appraise a body of work that communicates a progression of ideas and an awareness of contemporary creative practice and user/audience needs.

Students will develop creative methods, techniques, approaches, materials and processes in response to the brief. They will begin to position their personal professional practice within the discipline, exploring a range of appropriate design methodologies and strategies for the professional presentation and documentation of work.

The work produced on this course will lead to a final, summatively assessed body of work.

A PechaKucha 10x20 presentation of the work produced from weeks 2¿6, delivered verbally to your tutors.

Summative Assessment

At the end of the Course students will submit a multi-page digital portfolio (pdf format). This portfolio will comprise 100% of the final course summative grade and will contain:

Evidence of research and development in digital formats such as blogs or digital journals.

Resolved body of work resulting from research and development process.

Summative portfolio is assessed against all three course Learning Outcomes. Each Learning Outcome is equally weighted, and therefore comprises 33.33% of overall final course grade.
