Progression to dissertation (ratified at the May / June Board of Examiners in Year 2)
In order to progress to masters dissertation students must pass at least 120 credits with a mark of at least 50% in each of the courses which make up these credits, and attain an average of at least 50% for the 180 credits of study examined at the point of decision for programme to dissertation.
Please note that Dissertation (MN Nursing) (NUST11102) will be unavailable from academic year 2023/24 onwards. Instead, students will be given a choice between Dissertation: Empirical Research (NUST11095 - joint with MSc Advanced Nursing) OR Dissertation: Research Proposal (NUST11096 - joint with MSc Advanced Nursing).
Award of Masters of Nursing (ratified at October Board of Examiners in Year 2)
In order to be awarded the Masters of Nursing with Pre-Registration (Adult) students must:
a) pass at least 120 credits with a mark of at least 50% in each of the courses which make up these credits, and
b) attain an average of at least 50% for the 180 taught credits of study examined, and
c) attain an additional 60 credits, by achieving a mark of at least 50% for the dissertation, and
d) achieve proficiency in practice at a level of competence commensurate with eligibility for entry to the NMC register as a first level nurse as stated within the programme handbook.
