Biological Sciences - Bioinformatics (MSc & PgDip) (Full-time) - Optional Courses Semester 1

Select exactly 20 credits of the following courses

If a student wishes to take a course not listed below, then they should contact the Programme Director to discuss.

The following courses are strongly recommended as optional courses:
PGBI11057 Bioinformatics Algorithms
PGBI11040 Functional Genomic Technologies
BILG11004 Next Generation Genomics

Students may take either but not both of the following courses:
INFR11211 Applied Machine Learning (S1)
MATH11205 Machine Learning in Python (S2)
To take either of these courses you must have experience with linear algebra, basic calculus, stats, and programming. If you are interested in these courses, then please email the Programme Director (al.ivens@ed.ac.uk) to discuss your experience.

For Bioinformatics students, the following courses cannot be taken as "Class Only":
PGBI11130 Biological Structure and Drug Function
INFR11211 Applied Machine Learning
AND

Biological Sciences - Bioinformatics (MSc & PgDip) (Full-time) - Optional Courses Semester 2
