SummaryThe course will provide selected elements of transportation engineering: long term strategic planning; highway pavements; introduction to high-speed railway engineering.
Course description This course introduces the core principles of transport engineering, focusing on highways and transport infrastructure. Students will cover topics such as traffic flow dynamics, highway geometric design, pavement engineering, transport planning, and the integration of sustainable transport solutions. Emphasis is placed on designing transport systems that are efficient, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive, ensuring accessibility and safety for all users.

The course applies theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, with a focus on emerging technologies and trends such as smart transport systems and sustainable urban mobility. Through a combination of lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects, students will gain the skills needed to design, evaluate, and manage modern transport infrastructure and networks that meet the diverse needs of society.
