Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Mandatory outcomes: (a) understand loan finance; (b) explain the principles of tax as it applies to businesses (including the relevant aspects of corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, NIC, LBTT, capital gains tax and inheritance tax); (c) understand the purpose of the main areas of financial advice for companies and individuals; (d) understand the process of giving financial advice to companies and individuals including the tax elements of this; (e) explain and discuss the various forms of financial services available for clients, with particular reference to investment, mortgages, insurance and pensions, and the regulation of the provision of financial services, including investment protection, complaints procedures and compensation and the tax elements of this; (f) analyse and understand a set of company accounts, and (g) compare sets of accounts by using ratios.
