Summary | This course explores the wide range of mathematical applications. The course is based around three key themes from different areas of mathematics, and develops important skills in basic Python, mathematical writing, and document creation using LaTeX. |
Course description |
The course explores three themes in different areas of mathematics. The content of the themes is not fixed, but there will normally be one each from different areas of mathematics such as pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or operational research. In each component some basic techniques from the chosen area are studied, with exploration of applications.
The course additionally develops important skills. The course provides an introduction to the use of basic Python, and to the creation of mathematical documents using LaTeX. Students will undertake group work building on the content of one of the themes.
