Course description |
Students will develop activities in communication and public engagement with mentorship from the Easter Bush Science Outreach Centre (EBSOC) and other external partners. This course follows on directly from the "Communication and engagement with One Health Models of Disease -Theory and training" course.
In year 3 of PhD with Integrated Study students will be paired with academic mentors to develop and trial a Public Engagement with Research activities. They will be encouraged to develop activities that allow dialogue with audiences about the ethical implications of their research. Activities can be developed individually or in teams, and can include face-to-face activities e.g. for science festivals & workshops, and digital resources e.g. blogs, vlogs, and cartoons.
Students will run and evaluate their specific Public Engagement with Research projects at suitable events or other appropriate venues/platforms.
