Notes:
For this degree students take one compulsory course, 40 credits of skills courses, 60 credits of specialist option courses, and complete a dissertation. Normally, students will take a skills course and at least one specialist option course in each semester. Some variation may be permitted where appropriate in consultation with the Programme Director.

Further to discussion with the Programme Director a student may also choose an option from the suite of level 11 courses offered by the School of History, Classics and Archaeology or from other Schools.

The subject of A Topic in Late Antique and Byzantine History 1 will be: "The Long Twelfth Century: Byzantium in the Era of the Crusades (1071-1204)"
The subject of A Topic in Late Antique and Byzantine History 2 will be: "Byzantium in the Iconoclast Era, 717-841"
