To continue without the need for an extension to the total period of study, a full-time student must attain a minimum of 360 credit points by the end of Year 3.
After successful completion of 360 credits as outlined above, students may be eligible to exit with an Ordinary degree. See general DRPS regulation 53 for further details.
If students go abroad for the whole year, then they do not need to take the compulsory courses listed below, but have the option of taking HIAR10162 Analysing Art History (Non-Compulsory Year Abroad). If students go abroad for only one semester, they do not need to do the compulsory course listed below for the semester that they are away but should take the compulsory course for the semester they are in Edinburgh. i.e. If students go abroad in semester 1, they do not need to take HIAR10171 Analysing Art History: Texts, Objects, Institutions, Part One. If students go abroad in semester 2, they do not need to take HIAR10170 Analysing Art History: Texts, Objects, Institutions, Part Two but they do have the option of taking HIAR10162 Analysing Art History (Non-Compulsory Year Abroad).
For students that are accepted on History of Art Work Placement (HIAR10157), this will replace Analysing Art History: Texts, Objects, Institutions, Part Two (HIAR10170) in semester 2.
