Students wishing to pursue qualification towards legal practice in Scotland should note the courses required as indicated in the Degree Programme Table for the LLB Honours (Year 1 and Year 2) and the notes on progression towards legal practice. It cannot be guaranteed that a curriculum enabling progress towards professional qualification will be possible on this programme.

Please note, students who are retaking a compulsory course, or who have chosen to enrol in a course for professionally qualifying reasons, may have timetable clashes.

Notes:
Students wishing to progress towards legal practice should note that passes in the following courses (totalling 100 credits) are required to qualify as a solicitor in Scotland: LAWS08134 Business Entities, LAWS08132 Public Law and Individual Rights, LAWS08135 Delict, LAWS08141 Evidence (Ordinary), LAWS08131 Commercial Law (Ordinary), LAWS08142 Criminal Law (Ordinary), LAWS08130 Succession and Trust Law, and LAWS08133 Property Law (Ordinary).

Students should note that in order to progress to Honours in International Relations, they must achieve an average of at least 50 in their compulsory IR subjects in Year 2.

It is recommended that students on this programme choose Public Law and Individual Rights as one of their options.

Year 3 Academic year: 2024/25, Starting in: August

Notes:
Students should note that in order to progress to Honours in International Relations, they must achieve an average of at least 50 in their compulsory IR subjects in Year 2.

Students who opt to spend their third year abroad will be expected to do the equivalent of 120 credits.

Students studying abroad in third year who opt to take Route A (Law dissertation option) are required to take the course 'LAWS10214 Advanced Legal Writing (Online)' during their Study Abroad Year; students who opt to take Route B (IR dissertation option) will be asked to find a replacement course for 'PLIT10106 Research Design in PIR' during their third year abroad, or take it upon their return to Edinburgh in their fourth year.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.
