2. Students must normally achieve 50% or more in either Gaelic 2A or Gaelic 2B (Modern Honours route) or in both Celtic Literature in Translation courses (Medieval Honours route).

One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purpose of degree classification acquire weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.)
1. Celtic Dissertation (Part 1) or Scottish Literature Dissertation
2. Celtic Dissertation (Part 2) or Scottish Literature Dissertation
3. to 6. Celtic Honours option courses
7. to 10. Scottish Literature Honours option courses
11. to 12. Celtic or Scottish Literature Honours option courses

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.
