Summary | This is a dissertation preparation course for students on LLC MScR programmes. During the course students will further develop skills that will allow them to undertake independent research and update their proposed dissertation proposal. |
Course description |
This dissertation preparation course is run in the form of workshops in which students discuss general principles of research project design as well as specific research methods and problems relevant to the students' dissertations. Students will also introduce their dissertations to their peers and receive constructive peer feedback. The assessment will comprise an updated MScR dissertation proposal (100%), which will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis.

Feedback |
Students will receive feedback following their proposal submission from their dissertation supervisor. The course's discussion forum will provide opportunity for ongoing feedback among students. All students are encouraged to meet the course organiser and their MScR supervisors during weekly office hours to seek clarification and further details on any aspect of their assessment. |

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- formulate a research problem, appropriate to their respective MScR programme;
- demonstrate awareness of the methods appropriate for dealing with different modes of research in literatures, languages, and cultures;
- plan their dissertations.
