Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Have had the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the ability to formulate a research question.
  2. Have had the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the ability to devise a suitable research design to address their research question.
  3. Have had the opportunity to develop and demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of (i) substantive and methodological developments in the literature surrounding their research question, (ii) the tools and techniques used to address the research question (and their limitations), (iii) the robustness of the results generated.
  4. Have had the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the ability to analyse and reflect upon the economic significance (and, if appropriate, the policy implications) of the results.
  5. Have had the opportunity to develop and demonstrate personal effectiveness, intellectual autonomy and practical and technical skills, which include but are not limited to: (i) time-management, (ii) proactively engaging with supervision, (iii) working independently, (iv) task-management, (v) dealing with uncertainty, (vi) adapting to new situations, (vii) making decisions based on students¿ understanding (viii) appropriate citation and referencing, (ix) adherence to formatting requirements and (x) adherence to word- and/or content- limits. Note items (i) and (viii) are assessed through penalties, items (ix) and (x) are hard limits, excess material will not be marked; items (iv)-(vii) will not be assessed.
