SummaryThe dissertation consists of a significant report, describing an MSc-level project undertaken, which applies the practical skills and knowledge developed from the taught courses on MSc in Imaging, Vision, and High Performance Computing. Students are also required to present their work to the department and their peers and make appropriate records of work undertaken and results obtained using standard approaches (meeting minutes, software revision control, etc)

The dissertation must be based on original work carried out solely by the candidate and conform to the University's regulations. The project work may be undertaken within the Universities that are part of the joint MSc or in an external organisation with an appropriate focus. The subject area covered by the project can, with the approval of the Programme Directors, be chosen by the student to align with their own research interests as long as it meets the requirements of the programme and course.
Course description The work undertaken in the dissertation will depend on the specifics of the project selected or developed by the student.

Overall the dissertation should include research-level work in Imaging, Vision, and HPC (either focusing on a specific area from these, or across multiple of these topics), including demonstrating:
- Critical review of previous work in the area.
- Planning and implementing a programme of work to investigate the topic/project.
- Analysing the results in the context of previous work.
- Presenting the work in the form of a written dissertation.
- Summarising the work in an oral presentation to an academic audience.
