SummaryThis elective aims to provide an advanced immunological understanding of malaria, arguably the most important parasitic infection of mankind and an outstanding challenge to practical immunology. The emphasis will be on human malaria, though animal models will be considered when appropriate to current hypotheses of immunity and/or pathogenesis.
Course description THIS COURSE WILL BE CLOSED AFTER 2024/2025.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Clinical Immunology & Haematology 3B (MSBM09004)
Students MUST have passed: Immunology 3 (BILG09007)

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Advanced understanding of the immunological processes triggered by infection with malaria parasites.
  2. Attainment of advanced skills in reading, understanding and evaluating primary scientific papers.
  3. Development of oral presentation skills and written communication skills.
