Year 1 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
Alternative relevant option courses to those listed below may be substituted with the written permission of the Programme Director.

- A minimum of 20 credits and maximum of 40 credits must be taken in Semester 1 of Year 1

- A minimum of 40 credits must be taken in Semester 2 of Year 1

- DESI11178 Media and Culture is COMPULSORY but may be taken in Year 1 or Year 2 in the part time Programme. (NB There are some common progression paths from Semester 1 to Semester 2 which can be discussed with the programme director)

- A minimum of 40 credits must be selected from DESI1180 Design for Interactive Media, DESI11194 Elements of Digital Design, DESI11198 Fundamentals of User Experience Design, DESI11206 3D Digital Design but may be taken in Year 1 or Year 2 in the part time Programme.

- A minimum of 40 credits must be selected from ARCH11006 Digital Studio Media Project, DESI11182 Game Design Studio, DESI11183 Digital Playgrounds for the Online Public, DESI11184 Dynamic Web Design, DESI11196 Global Design Culture, but may be taken in Year 1 or Year 2 in the part time Programme.

- ARCH11006 Digital Studio Media Project and DESI11183 Digital Playgrounds for the Online Public cannot both be taken, if one is selected the other becomes unavailable for the student.

- Students can only take DESI11182 Game Design Studio if they have taken DESI11180 Design for Interactive Media in semester 1, or otherwise demonstrate their technical capability for the course to the CO

- DESI11181 Design and Digital Media: Final Project is COMPULSORY and it must be the last course taken in the part time Programme

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.

- DESI11178 is COMPULSORY but may be taken in Year 1 or Year 2 in the part time Programme

Elective courses to be selected for this DPT using the following rules:

¿ If the student selects to take the compulsory course DESI11178 in Year One Semester One, they will be required to then select a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 20 credits from the following list of courses for Year One Semester One
¿ If the student selects to take the compulsory course DESI11178 in Year Two Semester One, they will be required to then select a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 40 credits from the following list of courses for Year One Semester One

N.B. Alternative relevant elective courses to those listed below may be substituted with the written permission of the Programme Director.

Select between 20 and 40 credits of the following courses
Notes:
Students cannot select both ARCH11006 and DESI11183.
Not all options will be available every year.

Select between 0 and 20 credits of the following courses
Notes:
Not all options will be available every year.

Select between 0 and 20 credits from Level 11 courses in Schedules A to Q, T, W and Y
Notes:
Enrollment on optional/elective courses from the wider University may be considered with the approval of the relevant Course Organiser and your Programme Director.

Furthermore, in advance of notifying the Programme Administrator of any such choice(s), you must verify that your intended optional/elective course(s) does/do not clash with the existing timetables of this Programmes compulsory courses.
