Year 1 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
The High Performance Computing with Data Science (Online Learning) Postgraduate Diploma can be completed in a minimum of twoyears and must be completed within four years.

It is made up of six compulsory courses (worth 80 credits). Students will then choose a further 40 credits worth of elective courses to make a combined 120 credits of taught courses.

These 120 credits can be completed in a minimum of two years and must be completed within four years. The order and pace you complete them is somewhat flexible.

We recommend you speak with your Student Adviser, or someone in your student support team, to go over your course choices and desired completion timescale. We can advise you on the most efficient route through the Diploma based on your circumstances and intentions.

Please note:
- Practical Introduction to High Performance Computing MUST be the first/one of the first courses you take.

- Students are encouraged to take between 20 and 60 credits each academic year. You cannot take any more than 80 credits in any one year.

- Some elective courses will require students to have completed some of the compulsory courses first.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.

Notes:
Students must take all of these compulsory courses. Practical Introduction to High Performance Computing should be taken in the first year. We recommend completing the other compulsory courses across years one and two.

These courses may have pre- or co-requisites. Please check the course listing or ask your Student Advisor if they are suitable choices.

Year 2 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
Students in Year 2 are recommended to take between 20 and 60 credits.

Practical Introduction to High Performance Computing, Programming Skills and Threaded Programming should be completed by the end of Year 2 at the latest.

Students are also strongly recommended to have completed the remaining compulsory courses by the end of Year 2 or Year 3.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.


Year 3 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
Students in Year 3 are recommended to take between 20 and 60 credits.

It is necessary that you complete the compulsory courses by the end of Year 3 if you haven't already done so.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.


Year 4 Academic year: 2025/26, Starting in: September

Notes:
Students in Year 4 must ensure they have completed all compulsory courses and completed 120 taught credits as required for awarding.
