Students wishing to progress towards legal practice should note that passes in the following courses (totalling 100 credits) are required to qualify as a solicitor in Scotland: LAWS08134 Business Entities, LAWS08132 Public Law and Individual Rights, LAWS08135 Delict, LAWS08141 Evidence (Ordinary), LAWS08131 Commercial Law (Ordinary), LAWS08142 Criminal Law (Ordinary), LAWS08130 Succession and Trust Law, and LAWS08133 Property Law (Ordinary).
Progression to Year 3 Honours normally requires a Pass in all courses (240 credits) in the first two years. Students can gain a number of exemptions from the Professional Accounting bodies (ICAS, ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, AIA) but these exemptions differ according to the requirements of each respective Professional Accounting body. Please note that to gain exemptions, minimum marks of 50% or more would be required in certain courses if you are thinking of taking professional accountancy examinations.
