| Course description |
The Synoptic Exam: Assesses the broader knowledge that you should have established during foundation courses in the medical or science curriculum, and during the Drugs, Receptors and Therapeutics course. At Honours degree level you are expected to develop a critical understanding of the principal theories, concepts and principles of Pharmacology and to be familiar with new developments in the discipline (¿hot topics¿). During your final Honours year you should, for example, be keeping abreast of any major developments in Pharmacology reported in the leading broad scientific journals such as Nature, Science or specific discipline-based journals such as the British Journal of Pharmacology or Molecular Pharmacology. You may also find reviews of interest in Trends in Pharmacological Sciences or in Pharmacological Reviews. Further guidance on preparation and details of the Synoptic Examination will be provided during Semester 2.
