Notes:
Some compulsory courses 'must be passed' before students are permitted to progress to the next year of the programme. This condition is stated clearly in the information below.

Students are asked to note that although Elementary Probability and Statistics has two instances, it is the same course, delivered once in Semester 1 and once in Semester 2, with an examination in the May diet. Students can only take the course once during the academic year, and in most cases, the semester in which they take the course is prescribed by their programme.

Given that MATH08085 and MATH08086 are identical in content, students will have a maximum of 4 assessment attempts (3 assessment attempts for students subject to immigration control) combined for the two courses.

Notes:
The 'Mathematics Dissertation' is recommended only for students who are confident in their ability to work at a more advanced level. Students wishing to undertake the dissertation must have an 'A' average in their Year 3 courses and are required to obtain permission from the Projects Coordinator.

Taking Statistical Case Studies together with Mathematics Project is not recommended, as both are year-long courses with final deadlines very close together.

Students must consult course prerequisites and other requirements carefully when making course choices. In particular, Year 4 students are unable to take Financial Risk Theory (MATH11132) as they cannot meet the prerequisites.

Note that students are not normally allowed to take Level 11 MSc courses from this collection. Students wishing to do so must get written permission from the relevant Course Organiser. Note that such courses are likely to be very challenging and students should consult their Academic Cohort Lead as to whether this is an appropriate choice for them.
