SummaryThis course is intended to further develop students' understanding of some key topics at the heart of research in statistical methods.
Course description This module assumes student understand basic concepts in:
- probability (elementary probability distributions)
- statistics (ideas of estimation, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests)
- calculus.

In this module students will study:
- Random effects models
- Modern regression (generalised additive models, etc)
- An introduction to MCMC methods
- Case studies
