Biological Sciences - Bioinformatics (MSc & PgDip) (Full-time) - Optional Courses Semester 1

Select exactly 20 credits of the following courses

NOTE: If a student wishes to take a course not listed below, then they should contact the Programme Director to discuss.

You may take ONE of the following courses:
- INFR11211 Applied Machine Learning (Semester 1)
- INFD11005 Introductory Applied Machine Learning (Semester 2)
- MATH11205 Machine Learning in Python (Semester 2)
To take any of these three machine learning courses you must have experience with linear algebra, basic calculus, stats, and programming. If you are interested in these courses, then please just email the Programme Director (al.ivens@ed.ac.uk) to discuss your experience.

For Bioinformatics students, the following courses cannot be taken as "Class Only":
PGBI11130 Biological Structure and Drug Function (Semester 2)
INFR11211 Applied Machine Learning (Semester 1)
INFD11005 Introductory Applied Machine Learning (Semester 2)
AND

Biological Sciences - Bioinformatics (MSc & PgDip) (Full-time) - Optional Courses Semester 2

Select exactly 50 credits of the following courses

The following courses are strongly recommended as optional courses:
PGBI11057 Bioinformatics Algorithms
PGBI11040 Functional Genomic Technologies
BILG11004 Next Generation Genomics

You may take ONE of the following courses:

- INFD11005 Introductory Applied Machine Learning (Semester 2)
