| Summary | This course is concerned with English-Chinese translation. All the course materials are established English texts. The genres covered are fiction, non-fiction, and media discourse.
All students will be given a formative feedback exercise that will be helpful for the assessment for this course and students' general ongoing academic development. |
| Course description |
As a continuation of Chinese language learning after year abroad in China, the key aims of this course is:
· To develop an advanced and well-balanced competence in modern Chinese.
· To develop and apply three advanced Chinese skills in reading, writing, translating related to a specific professional or cultural context.
The course consists of 3 components:
1) Translation into Chinese
2) Reading
3) Composition

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply integrated knowledge of theories, principles and techniques and produce polished Chinese translation at a near native Chinese level.
- Analyse and interpret different forms of the written language including abstract, complex or colloquial literary and non-literary writings.
- Plan and compose clearly structured and coherent complex texts in an appropriate and effective style.
