On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the main ideas of linguistically complex discourse on both concrete and abstract topics, including discussion on cultural and political topics (Oral Comprehension)
- Give clear, detailed descriptions and presentations on a wide range of subjects, expressing relevant explanations, arguments and examples (Oral Production and Interaction)
- Read a variety of texts in different registers (argumentative, informative, persuasive and formal), with a large degree of independence, using appropriate reference sources. Have a broad reading vocabulary and convey the significant points contained in complex sources reliably. (Reading Comprehension)
- Produce cohesive, grammatically complex, well-structured texts on a variety of subjects, synthetizing and evaluating information and arguments from a diversity of sources. express news and views effectively in writing and relate to those of others. (Written Production and Interaction)
