Year 1 Academic year: 2026/27, Starting in: September

Notes:
Postgraduate Professional Development (PPD) is aimed at working professionals who want to advance their knowledge through postgraduate-level course(s), without the time or financial commitment of a full Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate.

You may take a maximum of 50 credits worth of courses over two years through our PPD scheme, these lead to a University of Edinburgh postgraduate award of academic credit. Alternatively, it may be possible to transfer your credits and allow you to study towards a higher award but you must ensure that you complete the compulsory courses required for these exit awards.

Any time spent studying PPD will be deducted from the amount of time you have left to complete a Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate programme. Please contact the programme team for more information about changing programme.

Course availability will be subject to student demand, low demand may mean a course will not run.

There are no compulsory courses in this year of this programme.

Year 2 Academic year: 2026/27, Starting in: September

Notes:
Postgraduate Professional Development (PPD) is aimed at working professionals who want to advance their knowledge through postgraduate-level course(s), without the time or financial commitment of a full Masters, Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate. The usual PG entry requirements apply and it is recommended that PPD applicants are already familiar with the area of intended study from prior academic or work experience, or already have a PG qualification in a related discipline.

You may take a maximum of 50 credits worth of courses over two years through our PPD programme, and these lead to a University of Edinburgh postgraduate award of academic credit. Alternatively, it may be possible to transfer your credits to continue studying towards a higher award, however, if the higher award is your final goal then the PPD programme is not advised and you should apply for the PG Certificate.

Any time spent studying PPD will be deducted from the amount of time you have left to complete a Postgraduate Certificate programme. Please contact the programme team for more information .
