| Summary | This course enables specialist textiles students to extend their textiles and material expertise in depth. Practical and theoretical research underpins all activities. An understanding of the application and context for the outputs of investigations additionally informs direction. Students are supported and challenged by academic and technical experts in the field to extend their practical skills and develop personally-led projects defined through courses 4A and 4B. |
| Course description |
This course affords time and space for extensive experimentation in a specialised field. Through a series of project challenges, students will extend their knowledge and understanding of the wider applications of materials and textile-focused expertise.
Technical skills will be further extended from experience gained in year 3 textiles and courses 4A and 4B. All activities will be driven by personal in-depth investigation by the individual student. Students will be encouraged to engage with relevant technical provisions across the University and beyond as well as the facilities within the Textiles department, encouraging a creative approach to the exploration of materials.
Through challenging the research gathered and precedents set, individuals will refine explorations through a series of iterations to develop resolved solutions for focused contexts as defined in their project proposals for courses 4A and 4B. All of this will be recorded in an appropriate format.
