SummaryThis course will consolidate your knowledge and understanding of the impact of placing work in the public domain through presentations to internal, external and public audiences.

Course description You will be encouraged to use appropriate strategies and methods of contextualisation to reveal connections between art works and their conditions of production and presentation.

Aims
1.To define the understanding of effective methods of contextual and visual presentation within a social situation.
2.To enable you to determine a personal approach to recording, disseminating and documenting art work in a variety of contexts.
3.To enable a critical reflection of the interaction between art works and social situations through appropriate professional practice strategies.

Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Presentation: Methods & Context 3 (ARTX09073)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Art Practice 4 (ARTX10038) AND ( Visual Culture Research Project (20 credit) (ARTX10036) AND Visual Research 4 (40 credit) (ARTX10039)) OR ( Visual Culture Research Project (40 credit) (ARTX10040) AND Visual Research 4 (20 credit) (ARTX10035))
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to students on a Degree Programme in the School of Art.

To fully participate in this course students are recommended to budget a minimum of £25.00 for general art materials such as sketchbooks, pens, pencils, paper.

This Course requires additional costs to be met by the Student. Course Organisers will support you in meeting intended learning outcomes while keeping material costs to a minimum, however, depending on your project focus within the course, you may optionally choose to incur costs associated with realising aspects of your work. Such costs are not compulsory and depend on the nature of your chosen individual project work.

Equipment and software: Most equipment and software required will be provided by the School, but student will be expected to provide some specialist equipment including [e.g. headphones, SD cards] if working with digital media. work.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Identify: Identify and present evidence of a self-directed autonomous practice.
  2. Synthesise: Building on previous experience present evidence of critical evaluation in the location of artwork within the broader context of current practice.
  3. Communicate: Present evidence of the testing and application of appropriate solutions to the dissemination, presentation and exhibition of your work through clear and precise strategies to informed audiences.
