Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of the different types and mode of action of antimicrobial agents, and the molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.
- Explain the theory of antimicrobial stewardship, and the application and practice of antimicrobial stewardship in clinical cases.
- Understand the role and importance of empirical and molecular epidemiology in the development of strategies and policies in the area of anti-infective therapy both nationally and globally.
- Understand the use of antimicrobial agents in clinical management.
- Explain and discuss the far reaching implications of antibiotic resistance and multidrug resistant organisms e.g. clinical, economic, and societal).
