To continue without the need for an extension to the total period of study, a full-time student must attain a minimum of 80 credit points by the end of Year 1. Total credits per year must equal 120.

Students failing History of Art 1A: Images and Identity, 500-1700 and History of Art 1B: Making Meaning in the Premodern World will not be allowed to progress to Year 2 unless recommended as a Special Circumstances concession from the Exam Board. Students transferring into History of Art from another programme with no prior study in History of Art may, with the permission of the History of Art UG Director, be allowed to take History of Art 1A, 1B and History of Art 2A and 2B, concurrently in Year 2.

Before selecting your outside courses, please ensure you have met your Cohort Lead.

To continue without the need for an extension to the total period of study, a full-time student must attain a minimum of 240 credit points by the end of Year 2. Total credits per year must equal 120.

Students transferring into History of Art from another programme with no prior study in History of Art may, with the permission of the History of Art UG Director, be allowed to take History of Art 1A, 1B, and History of Art 2A and 2B concurrently in Year 2.

** Please note that the degree classification for students who will graduate in Summer 2028, and in future years, will be determined with reference to this schema. **

During 3rd year, when permitted, at least 30 weeks of approved residence must be spent in a relevant country. During sessions when this is not permitted students will be offered an alternative means of engagement.

To continue without the need for an extension to the total period of study, a full-time student must attain a minimum of 360 credit points by the end of Year 3.

Please note: Students who take the option of ASST09006 Research Portfolio B cannot change to the HIAR10006 Dissertation (History of Art and Combined Degrees) in 4th year, but must take ASST10168 Chinese Studies Dissertation.

To continue without the need for an extension to the total period of study, a full-time student must attain a minimum of 480 credit points by the end of Year 4.

Final Assessment Weightings: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of this degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice).
