Accountability and Control in Organisations (AC0026)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : MSE-3-ACO How accountability and control are achieved in organisations. The structures and processes that comprise organisational governance. The course covers the accountability and control implications of planning, budgeting, reporting, performance appraisal and organisational incentive structures. The accountability of business to the community, individual and collective accountabilities within firms, and professional ethics are studied. The overall context of the course is the information economy and post-industrial society. Entry Requirements? The course aims:
1. To provide students with an understanding of how accountability, responsibility and control are used to achieve organizational governance. 2. To give students knowledge of the relationships between control, accountability and responsibility. 3. To trace the evolution of modes of control in organizations. 4. To develop students' abilities to apply knowledge and understanding of modes of control to complex case study scenarios. Assessment Information
By a Final degree exam in the summer term (60%) and by continuous assessment essay/ project in the Autumn term (40%).
