Company Finance (BS0061)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MSE-P-BS0061 This course considers the contribution and interrelation of corporate finance and corporate strategy. The course examines the contribution of financial theory and techniques to the pursuit of value enhancement in several key areas of company financial decision-making using a combination of case studies and taught material. Areas to be covered include capital budgeting, economic value added (EVA), financial engineering, valuing flexibility, and strategic investment. Upon completing this course students should:
-Recognise the contribution financial appraisal methods can make to developing a firm's strategy -Understand the difficulties involved in maximising shareholder value due to managerialism -Recognise the problems in applying investment appraisal techniques in practice -Be aware of the problem of risk in evaluating project -Understand the principles behind real options in corporate finance -Know how financial tools can be applied to develop sustainable competitive advantage -Be aware of the difficulties in foreign direct investment and appraising international Assessment Information
