Entrepreneurship and the Management of New Ventures (BS0070)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MSE-P-BS0070 The course aims to develop students' skills in the areas of new venture planning, economics and strategy. The recent rise in the importance of entrepreneurship has been characterised by highly turbulent and evolutionary markets. The course familiarises students with entrepreneurship in this business environment. Entry Requirements? The objectives of the course are to develop students' analytical skills for use in the following areas:
1. New venture creation and ownership 2. Consultancy services to entrepreneurial firms 3. Government support for enterprise 4. Small firm finance (venture capital, bank lending) 5. Corporate entrepreneurial activities 6. Entrepreneurial personal career management Assessment Information
Students will be required to undertake an individual opportunity identification exercise and undertake a group assignment which account for 60% and 40% of the course grade respectively. The module will be assessed by two pieces of coursework: 1. Individual assignment opportunity discovery processes and outcomes (details to be provided during the course) 2. Group Assignment - a 4000 word report based on a feasibility study for a new venture or an analysis of a case study entrepreneurial business (to be discussed in class).
