Design, Creativity and Problem Solving (BS0210)

The course aims to provide knowledge of design processes, and creativity and problem-solving techniques. A cross-disciplinary treatment of these issues is provided, applied within an organisational setting.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course the students should be able to:
- appreciate the nature of Design, Creativity and Problem-Solving and the relationship between these topics
- display an understanding of practical techniques and frameworks available for dealing with these topics within an organisational setting
- demonstrate that they can apply and adapt the presented subjects, skills and techniques to a particular situation, suggesting possible improvement
- appreciate other available resources (information, courses, and stakeholders) for effectively harnessing and managing design and creativity within organisations, especially under conditions of rapid change
- demonstrate an understanding of how the participants in the process can affect the outcome

Assessment Information

One individual essay (30%), one group project (30%), final exam (40%)
