Acronym : HCA-3-HIST This course studies the process of history-writing as it developed from the beginning of the fifth century BC in Greece, and as it was later taken over by the Romans. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will have acquired a basic knowledge and understanding of:-
- the nature and development of history-writing in the Greek and Roman worlds from the fifth century BC to the early second century AD; - the various methodologies used by modern historians and literary scholars to examine the works of ancient writers and the development of the genre. Continuous assessment (seminars and 2 essays) - 30%;
one (2-hour) degree examination - 70%. Exam times
