Early Irish Texts 2 (CT0086)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : LLC-3-CT0086 The teaching programme consists of two complementary strands, introducing students to the pronunciation, grammar and syntax of Early Irish, and training them to read edited Early Irish texts. It provides students with an introduction to the palaeographic, orthographic and textual background of the texts studied. The course starts by introducing students to the pronunciation of Early Irish and developing reading skills in Early Irish, and proceeds to study Early Irish texts with a greater emphasis on content and context. Assessment Information
For grammar classes and similar students are expected to prepare certain exercises and assignments as 'homework'. For text-reading classes the workload consists of preparation of texts, and participation in classroom translation of texts and discussion of their form, content and context as appropriate.
The Degree Examination counts for 75% of the total marks available for each course, and the Classwork marks count for 25%. Exam times
