Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Read and understand several important texts in the Old Testament.

2. Write exegetical essays on selected, representative texts of the Hebrew Bible in English translation.

3. Express independent critical assessment of the views of other scholars who have worked with the same texts.

4. Demonstrate a sound and adequate handling of secondary literature in footnotes and bibliographical references, including discussions with other scholars.

5. Engage in constructive scholarly debate with other seminar members.

Assessment Information

One 2000 word essay. 40% coursework (30% essay; 10% seminar preparation), 60% degree examination.
