Economics of Technical Change (EC0024)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : MSE-3-TECHCHG The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the role of technical change, and innovation more broadly, in the process of economic change. Particular attention may be paid to the following topics: the contribution of Joseph Schumpeter; the evolutionary/institutional approach to economic change; theory of the firm and learning; clusters, industrial districts, innovation and international competitiveness; the evolution of the telecoms industry in the Internet age; innovation systems; R&D decision-making. Assessment Information
Project report (20%) and a 2 hour degree examination April/May (80%).
